WASHINGTON - Rushing to help anxious taxpayers along the Gulf Coast and Florida, the House and Senate approved a final compromise bill on Friday that provides tax breaks for victims of hurricanes Wilma, Rita and Katrina.

Hurricane Wilma crashed into southwest Florida with howling 125 mph winds, dashing across the state to the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area causing damage and knocking out power to millions. At least six deaths in Florida have been blamed on the storm.
