Florida now ranks 19th in rate of population growth (Sun-Sentinel)
Florida's population gained in the past year but at a slower rate than usual, according to new population estimates released Thursday by the Census Bureau.
It's been a harsh year in and around Polk County (Orlando Sentinel)
The year started with one horrible crime and ended with another. In between, the Sheriff's Office targeted Internet predators, and residents of one community had to battle giant grasshoppers. Meanwhile, a famous architect's signature piece on the campus of Florida Southern College came to life and local investors purchased Cypress Gardens.
